Local art teacher creates street art, traditional paintings for Fargo Brewing Co.
FARGO — Deviating from her traditional watercolor media, Jescia Hoffman Hopper shakes two aerosol paint cans. The artist-teacher has been working in urban art since returning from her graduate studies at the Maryland Institute College of Art Baltimore last summer.
In December, Hopper began working on a massive commission at Fargo Brewing Co. She planned most of her painting time around the holiday break at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Middle School, where she teaches art to sixth- through eighth-graders.
The commission at Fargo Brewing Co. began with a gray paint swatch. "The guys tried to hire a painter to paint the wall gray. John (Anderson, one of the owners) sent me a text, and it said, 'We painted a sample of gray, we said no, we need to call Jescia,' " Hopper says.
